Ryan Quinlan

Ryan Quinlan is a lawyer practicing in insolvency & restructuring, debt & foreclosures and commercial litigation. He has been retained to act for debtors, creditors, trustees, receivers and monitors in insolvencies throughout Alberta. Ryan has substantial experience in debt recovery actions, security enforcement and foreclosures. He also acts as counsel on complex corporate and commercial litigation matters, including fraud actions, shareholder disputes, oppression claims, complex creditor remedy actions, lease disputes, priority disputes and construction litigation.

Ryan has appeared at all levels of Court in Alberta, and also has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada and Federal Court of Canada (Trial and Appellate divisions). He joined Duncan Craig LLP in December 2017. Prior to joining the firm, Ryan clerked at the Alberta Court of Appeal and then practiced at well-known global law firm.

In Ryan's Own Words:

"I got into the legal profession with the idea of helping people and wanting to play a part in solving interesting and complex issues. My colleagues would generally say that I take my job seriously and that I prioritize doing the best quality of work possible and that I try to provide practical advice over strict legal advice whenever possible. I am primarily a financial recovery lawyer that acts for creditors/plaintiffs, debtors/defendants and Court Officers. I find that in reality what the majority of clients want out of a lawyer is to just know that they have someone in their corner that is experienced, timely and competent in order to help guide them through the potentially unfamiliar Court process and to provide them with not only legally relevant advice, but practically sound recommendations so that their positions are protected, their stories and positions are advanced and the best outcomes can be achieved with as little cost as possible. This provides the client with a reduction in their anxiety and greater sense of calmness about their legal issues. This, most of all, is what I strive to provide in my legal services, and as a result, I have had the pleasure of becoming a trusted advisor to a multitude of clients and often obtain new work by referrals from past clients or over counsel."

In his spare time, Ryan enjoys time with his family, and playing soccer and hockey.
