A Legacy of Community Impact In Edmonton & Beyond
Founded in 1894 by William Short, Edmonton’s first mayor, and Charles Cross, Alberta’s first Attorney General, Duncan Craig LLP has always been deeply connected to the local community.
Our commitment to relationships, community, service, and integrity guides us forward, ensuring we make a lasting impact both inside and outside the courtroom.
Committed to Communities in Edmonton & Northern Alberta
At Duncan Craig LLP, relationships and community are more than values—they are the foundation of who we are. For 130 years, our firm has provided trusted legal services while also dedicating time and resources to supporting Albertans and the communities we serve.
Our lawyers and staff are proud to give back by supporting charitable organizations, scholarships, and sponsoring unique community events every year. We believe in leading by example – paying attention to where immediate support is needed and help make a difference. It’s a culture of giving that extends beyond financial contributions and reflects our commitment to enhance our strong, resilient communities in Edmonton and beyond.
Community Giving in Action
The Duncan Craig LLP Community Giving Committee
At the heart of our firm’s charitable initiatives is the Community Giving Committee, an internal board of 12 lawyers, directors, and staff dedicated to organizing and overseeing our firm’s community outreach. Through this committee, we coordinate:
- Hands-on volunteering initiatives, including quarterly group volunteer events where staff lend a hand to organizations in Edmonton.
- Paid volunteer time for all employees, allowing each staff member to dedicate a half-day during work hours to a cause of their choice.
- Annual charitable giving, where every employee is provided a donation amount to contribute to a charity that is personally meaningful to them.
The Duncan Craig LLP Community Fund
In 2013, we established the Duncan Craig Community Fund through the Edmonton Community Foundation, which manages our firm’s endowment. The fund is invested to provide long-term financial support for various charities we wish to help. Our lawyers and staff come together throughout the year to raise funds, reflecting our shared commitment to giving back. Each year, we donate a portion of the fund’s investment income to organizations nominated and thoughtfully chosen by our team, ensuring our contributions and support causes that matter to us all.
Charities We Support
At Duncan Craig LLP, supporting our community is at the heart of what we do. Over the years, we’ve partnered with and contributed to numerous charities that make a lasting impact on the lives of those around us. From local initiatives addressing basic needs to programs promoting education, health, and community development, we are proud to stand beside organizations dedicated to creating positive change. Our commitment goes beyond financial support—our team actively participates in fundraising, volunteering, and providing leadership by serving on non-profit boards, reflecting our belief in giving back and helping build a stronger, more compassionate community for all.
